Over the next few days, San Sebastián is hosting the 15th edition of the Graphene Conference (Graphene2025), the largest event in Europe −and one of the most important worldwide− dedicated to graphene and 2D materials. This conference brings together more than 500 researchers, companies and sector leaders to discover the latest scientific advances and industrial applications for graphene. The conference features a long list of top-level speakers in the field, including Konstantin Novoselov, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2010 for his work on graphene.

The opening of the Graphene2025 conference was attended by Adolfo Morais, Deputy Minister for Science and Innovation of the Basque Government, who highlighted that “the hosting of this conference in San Sebastián strengthens our commitment to R&D excellence, open to the world and addressing the major technological challenges of the future. Advanced materials offer a gateway to a new generation of solutions in areas as diverse as health, energy and mobility.”

The director of the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC), Ricardo Díez Muiño, highlighted the importance of “having at this conference renowned figures such as Professor Novoselov, who inspires an entire generation of young researchers who see graphene and, in general, the extensive range of 2D materials, as a field with enormous potential, both scientific and technological. Several DIPC researchers regularly participate with their research group and it is a pleasure having them in San Sebastián.”

Graphene2025 promises to be a key event for anyone interested in the future of advanced materials and their applications in the industry of tomorrow. Over the past few editions, the Graphene Conference has consolidated its position as a leading, in-person meeting point for the global graphene community. This international leading-edge conference brings together global leaders, renowned researchers and industry visionaries to discover and unlock the unlimited potential of graphene and 2D materials.

The conference is organised by Phantoms Foundation, the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), AMO, The University of Manchester, RWTH Aachen University, UCLouvain, BeDimensional, the Centre for Advancing Electronics Dresden (CFAED) −a research cluster at Technische Universität Dresden (TUD)−, and the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC).
